For whenever we feel like doing the thing

[ It's one of those rare, miraculous days where nothing goes wrong and everything seems to have mysteriously aligned to make sure everything turns out the way Matt (frankly never) expected them to. It's an anomaly and a breath of fresh air all at once, a welcome reprieve from the harrowing slew of events Matt had found himself caught up in for the past few months.

On the bright side, he'd busted another drug ring operating out of Hell's Kitchen, crushed the remaining human trafficking elements, and dismantled at least two illegal loanshark syndicates that preyed on the poor and the helpless. He's still got a few more clients coming in at a steady pace thanks to Trish's talk show a few months back, and while he's never been one for attention, he and Foggy had decided that it was best to get out there, to let the people know that there's hope for the downtrodden.

Of course, things hadn't been so smooth since then. True to form, Matt found himself steadily attracted to her, and it had seemed mutual -- and then Trish had found out about Matt's nocturnal activities after the sudden no-shows and disappearances, as well as the many bruises he'd sport with paper-thin excuses and an easy distraction.

It turns out Trish Walker is a keeper, and a woman who makes it clear that she can handle his baggage; she just doesn't take his shit. Which, of course, makes him realize that she's not like the others, that perhaps there could be a chance of more than just a fling with her. She knows his secret, and she damn well knows to hold her own; a fact that simultaneously impresses him and puts him at ease at the same time.

He has a dinner date with her tonight, and he'd specially bought her favorite Chinese takeout, having invited her to his apartment for a quiet night in. Some beer, some peace and quiet, and plenty, plenty of kissing. Of which he's currently engaging in right now on his couch with her, his arm around her waist. ]

Sorry. [ He says finally when he pulls away, his lips warm with her kiss. ] You were talking about your day.

[ Of course she was attracted to him. Not only was he handsome, but also genuinely charming in a way that didn't seem intrusive or forced. And there was the whole trying to help disenfranchised people thing, something about people fighting for justice just did things to her. Things that led to dates and feelings and yes, lots of kissing.

Finding out about his secret life only stoked that fire, really, because while Trish is a firm supporter of justice, she doesn't necessarily believe that the current system in place is the best way of getting justice. Sometimes, you have to think outside the box. And go kick some ass.

Now here she is, lips swollen from his kisses, skin tingling from the scrape of his stubble as she smiles at him. ]

And you made me forget all about it. Thank you.

[ The day had not been good, starting with an argument with her production team because she again wants a guest that they deem "too political" for her lifestyle show, followed by an interview with a very talented but heinously un-charismatic author, and then some more arguing with the production team before she could finally head over to Matt's place and say fuck off to the world for a little while. ]

[ It's his pleasure -- he had picked up on her tension, the way her muscles were pulled taut from the rigors of the day. She's a very capable woman, idealistic in all the ways that he finds incredibly charming, and dedicated to the work that she does, thrilling him with her similar sense of justice.

She understands why he does what he does, which takes a load off when it comes to him doing what needs to be done, and it helps to have someone unreservedly in his corner when the going gets rough. He knows that he's growing to depend on her more, drawing on her strength and courage when it becomes too overwhelming.

He can sense the smile in her voice even if he can't see it, and he leans in to kiss her briefly again, his fingers threading with hers. ]

[ She sighs a little once the kiss breaks, leaning her forehead against his. ]

I'm so sick of having the same arguments over and over again. They always try to steer me away from being "too political" because this is a lifestyle show and my listeners will tune out. Since when is politics not a part of your lifestyle? I at least have some damn faith in the people listening to me.
